BES are characterized by low energy consumption compared to traditional technologies, and by the possibility of using virtually inexhaustible (and therefore sustainable in the long term) solid electron acceptors / donors for carrying out biological processes, and therefore represent an emerging alternative to the latter. This technology has demonstrated high flexibility and the ability to be declined in various applications, integrating with more traditional technologies. The research will address the issue of remediation of groundwater contaminated by pollutants typical of this environmental sector
(nitrates, chromium, perchlorates, arsenic, organic pollutants) with targeted laboratory experiences,
integrated modeling and feasibility analysis of their integration (or replacement of existing processes) in the treatment plants and potabilization of supply water
