Position Information:
The Research Specialist will work as a member of a highly motivated team of water resource professionals providing leadership and support for watershed research. This position will handle project management duties such as ensuring on-time deliverables and project reporting. The Research Specialist will work with university administration and faculty; research and Extension personnel; federal and state agencies; non-profit organizations; personnel with other universities, centers, and institutes; and other partnerships to plan and develop projects and grant proposals to address critical water issues in Oklahoma. Finally, the incumbent will assist in education, outreach, engagement, and other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
Position Qualifications:Required: Bachelor’s in Hydrology, water management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Plant & Soil Science, Natural Resources Management, or closely related degree

At least one years’ experience in hydrologic and/or water quality data collection and assessment Valid driver’s license. Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties. Reimbursement for official travel.Working knowledge of MS Office Suite; excellent written and oral information delivery skills; Working knowledge of water monitoring systems and experimental design; Ability to work outdoors in potentially inclement weather conditions and lift at least 50 lbs.; Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups including the public, agricultural interests, city and county officials, non-profit and environmental advocacy organizations, and water resource personnel from Land Grant Universities and state and federal agencies; Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others; Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; Ability to travel statewide as necessary to coordinate program efforts is required; Proficiency in statistical assessment of environmental data.Preferred: Master’s in Hydrology, water management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Plant & Soil Science, Natural Resources Management, or a closely related field with coursework related to watershed management and/or natural resource management

Two or more years relevant professional experience with grant writing, project management, water quality and/or hydrologic monitoring, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement.Preferred Certifications, Registrations, or Licenses: Geographic information systems 

Experience in automated hydrological/water quality field data collection, use of water quality monitoring sondes, and general lab techniques; Experience in stakeholder engagement and effective grant writing.
