The Department
The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (DRDMW) drives growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources, leading innovation in manufacturing, and developing our regions. From our offices in Brisbane and a network of regional offices and manufacturing hubs, more than 700 DRDMW staff work to create a Queensland where communities, businesses and water resources are sustainable and resilient.
The Role
As a member of the Basins’ Project Management Office, you will be part of a small, dynamic, and results oriented team. This team operates under the Great Artesian Basin Rehabilitation Program which delivers substantial funds for on-ground works to support sustainable and efficient use of the water resources of the Great Artesian Basin. In collaboration with the team, you will be responsible for implementing and improving contract and project management procedures. You will have the opportunity to liaise with rural and other clients in relation to funding applications and contracts. You will hold skills or have the ability to gain skills in departmental information, record-keeping and reporting systems.
• Operate independently and as part of a high functioning team to meet the objectives outlined in the department’s strategic plan and business plans.
• Gain an understanding and assist the team to assess and process grant funding applications and provide initial advice to landholders, other rural industry and internal clients as required, with the ability to liaise and build positive working relationships.
• Acquire knowledge of associated legislation, policy and work procedures and apply this knowledge to undertake work processes and contribute to the development and variation of such policy, procedures, and processes.
• Maintain personal integrity and transparency with others.
• Provide project support by assisting with the maintenance of client and contract record-keeping and databases and corporate functions such as asset management, mailing, and purchasing activities.
About You
• There are no mandatory requirements for this role however, a “C” class drivers’ licence would be highly regarded.
• Skills in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Outlook and Excel is highly desirable.
• Travel away from the centre may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods.
