The Role
Operating from within the Water Projects and Unallocated Water team within the North Region, you will be involved in key departmental services associated with unallocated water releases including water act dealings under water plans and water management protocols and contribute to meeting business operation plans. This includes the delivery of projects and services that contribute to achieving sustainable management and use of water resources, consistent with statewide water management framework, policies and priorities, in partnership with stakeholders.

Key Duties and Accountabilities
• Contribute to a high performing small team responsible for the delivery of services and administering water resource assessment in the North Region.
• Undertake investigations and make recommendations under the Water Act 2000 in relation to water authorisations under unallocated water releases.
• Review the investigations of others and provide guidance on processes, procedures, and legislation relating to water resource management.
• Monitor condition and trend of surface water and groundwater resources and implement water management strategies, where necessary, to manage sustainable access and water.
• Contribute to the planning, development and implementation of management frameworks for surface water and groundwater.
• Engage clients in the resolution of complex procedural issues associated with competing demands for water resources.
• Consult, liaise and provide information to user groups, the general public, staff and Government agencies on water resource management matters.
About You
• A “C” class manual driver’s licence is essential and 4WD driving experience in off road remote locations is highly desirable.
• Travel away from the centre may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods.
