About the role

Wade into a rewarding and fulfilling career with the wetlands team at the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board!

We’re looking for a project officer to work across programs and projects to improve the health of the River Murray, wetlands and floodplains. Don your binoculars and join a dynamic team working with contemporary ecological approaches to sustain vital wetland environments and conserve threatened native species.

About the organisation

The Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board oversees the sustainable management of natural resources in South Australia’s Murraylands and Riverland, focusing on land, water, biodiversity and community engagement.

The region includes enviable wet landscapes including the River Murray, Lower Lakes and 3 Ramsar listed wetlands, providing an inspirational backdrop for the organisation’s wetland team. The team manages and monitors wetland and floodplain sites, designing and implementing cutting edge approaches to improve the condition of key sites and conserve endangered native species. Recent highlights have included efforts to reintroduce locally extinct species including Murray crayfish and the Yarra pygmy perch.

About the person

The Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board is seeking applications from candidates with a formal qualification in ecology or a related field. You’ll be capable of a fast learning curve with an adaptable and practical approach, and the ability to apply scientific principles to real world challenges. Working as part of a small, focussed team, you’ll develop effective and genuine relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Previous experience in terrestrial ecology and the ability to apply those principles to wetland environments will be highly favoured. Recent graduates and candidates at the beginning of their career are encouraged to apply.
