Position Title: Tri Co Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Program Coordinator
Purpose & Role: The Tri Co AIS Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a coordinated tri-county strategy using relevant DNR surface water programing and effective partnerships to help prevent and control the spread of aquatic invasive species and to monitor lake water quality in Forest, Langlade and Oconto counties. The Coordinator will create/maintain an active network of partners who participate in all aspects of programming.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a natural resource field.
• Two or more years relevant work experience preferred.
• Strong commitment to healthy lakes and to solving environmental problems through partnerships.
• Demonstrated experience in building networks and coordinating projects with multiple. stakeholders; experience and skills with conflict management beneficial.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative attitude.
• Ability to self-start and to work independently without close supervision.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences orally and in writing.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout the project area and attend evening/weekend events.
• Familiarity with aquatic invasive species and local land/water conservation issues preferred. Plant identification experience may be helpful.
Requirements:
• Possess or obtain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license
• Provide proof of auto insurance coverage

• Be able to operate motorized watercraft
Position Information, Salary and Benefits:
• Permanent 80% (32 hours per week) – 1664 hours per work year

Purpose & Role: The Tri Co AIS Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a coordinated tri-county strategy using relevant DNR surface water programing and effective partnerships to help prevent and control the spread of aquatic invasive species and to monitor lake water quality in Forest, Langlade and Oconto counties. The Coordinator will create/maintain an active network of partners who participate in all aspects of programming.
Primary Duties:
Develop plans that provide technical assistance to communities, stakeholders, and volunteers within the coverage area to prevent the spread of AIS, to provide education about AIS impacts and prevention, and to help coordinate the lake monitoring program.
In cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) and participating counties’ land/water conservation departments, implement an AIS Prevention and Outreach Program throughout the coverage area by adhering to the items in the Lake Monitoring & Protection Network (LMPN) Cooperative Agreement and (not limited to) do the following:
1. Providing local support and assistance in implementation of statewide communication and education priorities to ensure consistent AIS messaging and early detection protocols.
2. Work with partners to implement the Wisconsin Statewide Aquatic Invasive Species Strategic Plan.
3. Collaborate with partners on delivery of consistent project communication, outreach, and educational programming.
4. Participate in and coordinate local partner involvement in statewide AIS initiatives such as Landing Blitz and Drain Campaign.
5. Meet with Cooperative Invasive Species Management Areas (CISMAs), to assist with AIS education, monitoring, and response efforts.
6. Attend annual WNDR AIS and UW Lakes Partnership events and training sessions including, but not limited to AIS Partnership meetings, AIS training, Clean Boats Clean Waters, Citizens Lake Monitoring Network (CLMN), Purple Loosestrife Biocontrol
7. Help Coordinate CLMN programming including education/outreach and water quality training workshops, media contacts, use of equipment, field checks, SWIMS data entry.
8. Help coordinate DNR Flagship programs (such as those identified in Item 6 above) throughout the tri-county area.
a. Work with partners to apply for CBCW grants to fund additional inspectors.
9. Help coordinate checks on WDNR AIS signage at lake/river public access sites within Forest, Langlade & Oconto Counties
10. Help coordinate technical assistance to a grantee or grant applicant.
11. Be responsible for the administration of the program, including keeping and retaining records, submitting funding requests, submitting timely reports and generally keeping an account of the program.
12. Other duties as outlined in the Cooperative Agreement and as directed by management.
