QTC’s Advisory Division plays a crucial role in promoting financial sustainability and operational excellence across various government sectors in Queensland. We’re passionate about supporting our clients in achieving their goals and making a lasting impact.
The Government Owned Corporations (GOCs) portfolio within the Advisory Division encompasses critical areas such as energy, transport, water and central treasury management.
This Principal role in the Water team involves entity-level business, financial and credit analysis to support funding decisions, as well as program/project-level financial and commercial analysis to inform investment decisions.
Your work will directly contribute to vital water infrastructure investments, enhancing risk management strategies, and improving the financial and economic outcomes for the State Government, Local Governments and their respective water entities.
Purpose of Role:
QTC is seeking an experienced Principal to join the GOCs portfolio – Water team, part of QTC’s Advisory Division team in Brisbane on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing thought leadership and advice on strategic, financial and commercial aspects of the water industry to public sector clients.
- Undertaking comprehensive research to stay informed on the latest developments and trends within the water industry and share insights with public sector clients.
- Leading advisory projects, manage project teams and deliver sound financial advice in accordance with internal procedures and protocols.
- Building strong, cooperative relationships with all stakeholders, both within and outside the organisation.
- Ensuring clear, targeted and professional verbal and written communication with clients.
- Sharing water industry insights with colleagues and clients to foster a collective knowledge sharing environment.
- Supporting the growth and initiatives of the GOCs portfolio and the broader Advisory Division.
About You:
A water resources management professional combines technical expertise with financial acumen to address the complex challenges of managing water systems. This role could be filled by a water engineer with a strong grasp of commercial principles, a financial manager with sector-specific experience, or a policy officer who understands both the technical and commercial aspects of water management.
Experience and competencies include:
- Understanding of water industry dynamics, including the water service delivery cycle, key players, regulatory frameworks and challenges.
- Proven experience within the water industry, corporate finance, and infrastructure projects evaluation.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, evidenced by the ability to assess complex situations and devise effective, innovative solutions.
- Highly developed financial analysis skills, paired with the ability to produce high-quality reports and deliver compelling presentations.
- An effective communicator with an engaging and persuasive style, proven to influence stakeholders and establish strong relationships.
- Highly motivated with a focus on continuous professional growth and learning.
