Who are we?

WRAP is a global environmental NGO, and our core purpose is to help tackle climate change. We want to protect our planet by transforming our broken product and food systems to create circular living. We don’t believe that our natural resources should be wasted, everything we use should be re-used and recycled.

If you join us at WRAP – and we think you should – you’ll drive important change and help transform our throwaway economy into one where we eliminate waste, circulate resources, and adopt nature-positive, low carbon, and resource-efficient systems.

We want to power circular living in every boardroom and every home, and you can help us achieve this.

The role

As our Specialist in water, you will use your expert knowledge of sustainability in water and food to impact positive changes at an industry-wide level and transform the food system. Food system transformation is one of our key focal areas and as a Water Specialist, you will play a critical role in cultivating and harnessing thought leadership and subject expertise to help deliver meaningful change in the sector.

As a Specialist in water, you will:

  • Provide strategic steer and leadership to drive action and impact growth across our Water Roadmap, including supporting on business water strategy and delivery of collective action projects for water stewardship in key ‘at-risk’ catchments.
  • Be accountable for identifying multiple income sources and working cross-functionally with our engagement teams to build a funding strategy to support the growth of our national and international water stewardship work.
  • Lead on the technical strategy and Water Roadmap to deliver WRAP’s voluntary agreement targets in the UK and internationally as appropriate.
  • Technical support and leadership of national and international projects which deliver against WRAP’s ‘Roadmap Towards Water Security for Food and Drink Supply’ and strategy for water stewardship.
  • Identify the strategic priorities, evaluate progress towards voluntary agreement targets, and ensure that activities and outputs are well-targeted to deliver business behaviour change and high impact.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for an experienced Water Specialist that brings significant relevant technical sustainability knowledge, ideally combined with practical experience in business, consulting or similar NGO environments.

Broader experience will include:

  • Demonstrable evidence of experience and understanding of water risk in relation to the food and drink supply chain including an understanding of supply chain and consumer environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of providing technical support and developing solutions related to water security and/or food and drink supply chain.
  • The ability to build rapport quickly and develop a strong network across the food and drink industry and other key organisations.
  • Good engagement and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of audiences, both in writing and in person.

Our people are what make WRAP unique. If you think you have what it takes, but your experience looks different to what is advertised, please still apply.

We want to help you be your best, so please contact us if you require any assistance or adjustments during the recruitment process.
