Under the general guidance of the office staff, the intern will undertake activities among the following areas:
  • Desk research on trends in water-related issues in the international water sector.
  • Research and analysis on linkages of the SDGs und sub-topics related to water and wastewater.
  • Research and analysis of water and wastewater operators, with specific focus on water quality, pollution and wastewater management in urban, peri-urban and rural settings.
  • Support the preparation of the organisation´s  participation in international conferences and meetings.
  • Support the preparation and production of content, communications and awareness raising material (electronic and print).
  • Support in membership management, stakeholder management.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
To qualify for an internship with the organisation´s Internship Programme, the following requirements must be met:
  1. Have academic background or be enrolled in academic programme on international relations, water related issues, communication management, political communication, development cooperation
  2. be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  3. be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
  4. have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the internship programme. Though experience and/or interest in the areas of international relations, international water sector, development cooperation, international communications management, political communication
English and French are the working languages of this office. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required for the Internship Programme. Knowledge of French and another official UN language is an asset (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish).
Other requirements
In case of non-EU-citizenship, a visa permit and health insurance for the duration of the internship is a requirement.
