Job Summary
The Team
The Water Management Branch (WMB) at Water, Fisheries and Coastal Policy & Planning Division offers inclusive leadership and expert support for water programs throughout the province. The Flood Policy team is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and provides strategic direction for provincial flood resilience policies and programs. By joining us as a Policy Project Management Analyst, you will collaborate with a dynamic team, including the River Forecast Centre (RFC) and the Flood Safety Program, to make impactful decisions that safeguard our water resources and public safety.
The Role
As the Policy Project Management Analyst you will play a crucial role in managing impactful large-scale initiatives like the Sumas River Watershed Flood Mitigation Planning and Transboundary Flood Initiatives. Reporting to the Flood Initiatives Lead, you will oversee projects that engage a diverse array of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring equitable and inclusive practices throughout. Your responsibilities will include defining and overseeing all project activities to deliver initiatives within scope, schedule, budget, and specified quality, making a meaningful difference in our communities.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in natural resource management, science, public administration, planning, social studies or economics, or a related field and one (1) year *related experience
- Diploma or Certificate in a related field and Two (2) years *related experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience including volunteer and lived experience may be considered.
*Related experience must include all of the following:
- Experience with engagement planning and coordination
- Experience independently managing projects.
- Experience in directing the work of contracted and staff resources.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- More than two (2) years *related experience as outlined above.
- Experience working with First Nations communities and facilitating First Nations consultations or engagement.
- Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.
- Experience in managing projects that involve First Nations partnerships or stakeholder engagement.
- Project management coordination or related experience.
- Formal training in any of the above required or preferred experiences.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
This is a temporary opportunity until March 31, 2025. This position may be extended or become permanent.
