The Role
Play a part in ensuring that Queensland communities have a reliable drinking water supply. You will support technical water security assessments, develop guidance on water security matters for local councils, and assess water security data. Your role also includes the development and review of material to support councils in responding to drought, including review of demand management guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
We are looking for someone who has critical analysis skills, to assess risks to water supply security. You will be expected to use your problem-solving skills and be able to think about issues in an objective and critical way.
• Prepare timely and quality contributions to support the preparation of reports, briefing notes, correspondence, and other documentation (potentially involving conveying complex technical issues) for a wide range of audiences including Ministers and the general public.
• Contribute to the development of materials to assist councils in appropriately managing their water security risks, including information on water security matters and guidance on drought management.
• Consult with internal and external stakeholders including farmers, environmental stakeholders, First Nations people, technical experts, government departments, and community organisations.
• Work autonomously and establish priorities to work as an effective member of the team to meet agreed project deliverables and milestones.
• Liaise, consult, and foster effective and collaborative relationships with team members, other departmental work units, government agencies, water service providers, industry and the community as necessary.
• Undertake research and data analysis to support technical assessments associated with urban water supply planning across Queensland, including providing advice and options on potential water supply security issues.
• Contribute positively to WOS activities including report writing, project planning and implementation, operational, organisational, and service delivery improvement processes.
Flexible work location arrangements will be considered for this opportunity to facilitate an adaptive and agile workforce. For example: the successful candidate may work from a regional or Brisbane based location. Please include your location preference with your application.

• Well-developed problem-solving skills
• Critical analysis skills to assess risks to water supply security.
• Ability to think about issues in an objective and critical way.
• There are no mandatory requirements for this role, however good written communication skills and a strong aptitude for data analysis will be highly regarded.
