Job Description:
The Great Salt Lake Water Coordinator position will research and work with water users across the Great Salt Lake Basin to help get additional water to the Great Salt Lake in a voluntary and market-based approach. The Coordinator will work in coordination with other state agencies as well as local and federal partners and stakeholders. The Coordinator will also work closely with the Great Salt Lake Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner to conduct research and lead projects to implement the Great Salt Lake Strategic Plan.
Principal Duties:
- Manages a water coordination and leasing research program; directs the research and/or analysis of projects by establishing priorities, setting goals, and developing research standards.
- Leads direct outreach and engagement with water users in the Great Salt Lake Basin.
- Coordinates or leads water coordination and leasing program activities, services, and/or program implementation, etc.
- Develops approaches for implementation of the water leasing program or change in operations.
- Evaluates all aspects of projects, project findings, and operational data regarding technical merits and implications.
- Writes policy and position papers, technical reports, articles or related material based on research, investigation or analysis.
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
- Provides consultation, makes recommendations, gives appropriate advice, and/or facilitates decisions to the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner.
