Our Water Group is currently seeking to appoint two Licencing & Approvals Managers in an ongoing full-time capacity, across different business and specialist areas of licensing and approvals. The role of Manager will provide leadership, direction and management to staff to improve efficiency, and to allow delivery of statutory obligations and strategic priorities.

About You

A dynamic leader and manager of people with expertise knowledge and capability to provide strategic, regulatory and expert advice and guidance to the Director, the team, Policy, Legal and other areas across the DCCEEW Water Group for the:

  • assessment/determination/approval/conditioning/refusal of licences and approvals under the Water Management Act 2000 (WMA), Water Management General (Regulation) 2018, Water Act 1912, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EPA Act) and procedures and policies  for the customers of the department including  councils, local and major water utilities, irrigation corporations, State Significant Infrastructure, Aboriginal corporations, State Owned Corporations, Government entities and public schools/hospitals;
  • approval of controlled activities under WMA for activities on waterfront land;
  • integrated development under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EPA Act) for activities on waterfront land; and,
  • providing advice on relevant aspects of the WMA to the Minister for consideration in determining applications for State Significant Development and State Significant Infrastructure under the EPA Act.

The ability to confidently develop and engage in internal and stakeholder relations will be critical to lead the team, provide advice, and communicate determinations regarding the expert area of Licensing & Approvals.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in Natural Resource Management.
  • Occasional intra-state travel.
  • Current NSW driver’s license.
