About the Role and You
As Deputy Director-General, Water Resource Management, you will be responsible for the delivery and leadership of sustainable management of Queensland’s water resources to support the economy, ensure safe, secure, and affordable water provision, enhance urban water efficiency and address rural water management challenges.
Reporting to the Director-General, this position leads a team of over 500 professionals, including 7 direct reports, to deliver services aligned with government priorities, within budget, meeting service standards, and identifying innovative efficiencies related to water resource management.
Key to your success in this role is to provide strategic advice on water resource management in Queensland, leading the Water Resource Management Group and overseeing natural resource management, urban water security, regulation, and dam safety. Additionally, you will guide major infrastructure projects, provide representation for Queensland on national water committees, and lead the Rural Water Futures Program to enhance transparency and sustainable water use.
You will come with exceptional communication and relationship building skills with local government, industry, and other stakeholders, with the ability to represent the government in complex negotiations to meet community and industry needs.
