Position Details
This position provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced and high-performing individual who excels at partnerships and is driven by a desire to achieve environmental benefits within Victoria’s catchment and waterway management and water resource management frameworks. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, development, delivery and implementation of key policy and projects to support environmental water management in Victoria and its integration with the broader waterway management program. Key work will include contributing to implementation of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan in northern Victoria, and supporting the integration of environmental watering infrastructure projects with environmental watering to improve climate change resilience.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Essential – a degree qualification or higher, preferably in science, environmental engineering, natural resource management, environmental law, or a relevant equivalent, to assist formulation and implementation of relevant policy.
- Essential – demonstrated knowledge of Victoria’s catchment and waterway management and water resource management frameworks.
- Highly desirable – knowledge and understanding of aquatic ecosystems; knowledge and understanding of Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
- Highly desirable – knowledge of the Victorian Aboriginal Affairs framework and a demonstrated commitment to and experience in Traditional Owner self-determination in management of land and/ or waters.
This is a fixed term position available until 23 January 2026. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
