The Department of Geosciences at The Pennsylvania State University, in University Park, PA invites applications for a position in Geofluids and/or Geomechanics to be filled at the level of Assistant Professor, although in exceptional cases more senior candidates will be considered. We seek a creative colleague who will develop a vigorous externally funded research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and demonstrate commitment to advancing diversity. The Department of Geosciences is part of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) and houses top-ranked research programs in geology, geophysics, geochemistry, and environmental/ climate sciences. For this position, we are particularly interested in candidates who contribute to and complement our existing and long-term strengths in plate tectonics, hydrogeology, hydrogeophysics, geohazards, geodynamics, seismology, geodesy, glaciology, rock and sediment mechanics, geochemistry, and energy geomechanics. Penn State hosts campus-wide initiatives in water resources and the College of EMS hosts the Center for Geomechanics, Geofluids, and Geohazards which provide opportunities for collaboration in the areas of natural hazards, material science, and energy engineering.
