Context
 
Jal Seva Charitable Foundation (JSCF) is registered in India as a not for profit company under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956. The organisation is an associate member of WaterAid International and uses the brand name ‘WaterAid’ in India. JSCF’s mission is to transform the lives of the poorest and most marginalised people by improving their access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. The organisation currently works in 13 stated in India and has a head office in New Delhi.
 
JSCF is anchoring a project to provide safe water access in communities in Hyderabad and in 30 gram panchayats in Chittoor, Guntur and Vizianagram districts of Andhra Pradesh. The project will ensure that families have access to water year-round, particularly during the water scarce months through drinking water provisioning and water conservation methods such as roof top rainwater harvesting and water recharging in project communities and institutions such as schools, anganwadi centres, healthcare facilities, community centres etc.
 
JSCF is looking for a suitable candidate who will plan and implement all the water harvesting and recharge activities and campaigns planned under the project in Hyderabad, Telangana.
 
Contract Duration: Upto June, 2021 (Extendable depending on extension of the project)
 
Responsibilities
 
Project Coordination
  • Ensure project objectives and targets are met effectively within timelines
  • Plan monthly and quarterly targets and ensure their delivery through team
  • Undertake intensive and regular field visits to slums and other urban communities in Hyderabad to supervise project implementation
  • Conduct periodic review meetings with the team to ensure delivery is as per schedule
  • Lead, manage and motivate the team, creating an environment that enables staff to maximise their potential and facilitates high performing team
  • Report the activities and financial progress as per the agreed schedule or requirements
  • Preparation of monthly updates and brief reports
  • Lead in Planning (get technical and engineering drawing and designs, concept notes) and implementation of hardware components as per the plan.
  • Adhere to technical standards and technical guidelines and policies in the project
  • To undertake any other activity/ work as directed by Programme Coordinator- South
Advocacy and stakeholder engagement
  • Take lead in conceptualizing and organizing city level consultations /workshops / conferences as required in the project
  • Working with WaterAid’s communications Team (through the Programme Coordinator- South) to ensure effective documentation of the work being implemented
  • Undertake evidence based campaign and advocacy
Stakeholder Management
  • Map all the stakeholders and design WASH stakeholder engagement strategy
  • Maintain excellent working relations with the RWAs, vendors for water conservation technologies, Govt. line deptt. officials and other key stakeholders
  • Maintain excellent working relations with city level government departments for collective planning, demand representation, obtaining permissions and leveraging resources
  • Lead the team to work with city level and slum level collectives and federations to develop settlement based interventions and solutions on drinking water security and safety
  • Facilitate interface between target community, RWAs, government institutions and service providers
  • Represent WaterAid in relevant meetings regularly in consultation with Programme Coordinator
  • Conduct periodic review meetings with the teams working/supporting the project
Program Reporting
  • Produce high quality reports and case studies to be shared with the team and other stakeholders
  • Ensure adequate inputs for the periodic reporting and progress update presentations, success stories, anecdotes and photos
  • Periodic review and verification of MIS data
  • Support Project Officer (Technical) in plan and execution of hardware infrastructure
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Programme Coordinator- South
Eligibilities and requirements
 
Education and experience – Essential
  • Post-graduation (or equivalent) qualification in one of the following areas: social sciences, development, economics, water/natural resource management or related stream
  • Around 5-6 years of relevant work experience in similar organizational/functional context
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with vendors/contractors for execution of field construction activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with government agencies through collaboration and partnerships
  • Good communications and presentation skills – write, read and speak in English & Telugu.
Education and experience – Desirable
  • Qualification in water, sanitation, hygiene education
  • Specific training on rainwater harvesting
  • Experience of working in urban geographies on WASH or water conservation
  • Experience in coordination/ dialogue with city administration and other stakeholders

  • Proactive and self-motivated individual capable of engaging with various stakeholders
