An exciting opportunity has arisen for an early career researcher with training in health economics and experience working in the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector to join a rapidly growing and world-renowned research team – the Environmental Health Group at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
The post holder will support a number of ongoing public health research projects and will be expected to develop their own independent research agenda focused on the economics of WASH. The postholder will support large ongoing epidemiological evaluations of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) interventions in Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as other smaller studies in other countries. Furthermore, the post holder will support the ongoing work of the Lancet Commission on WASH and Health through desk-based work which will include systematic reviews.
The successful applicant will have a track record of relevant research experience, including economic evaluation and systematic review, excellent communication skills, and an ability to work both independently and in close collaboration with in-country partners. The applicant should have an excellent academic track record that includes formal training in health economics, or a related field, and prior scientific publications related to the economics of WASH. It is also essential that the candidate has WASH sector research experience in low- and middle-income countries. Further particulars are included in the attached job description.
This full-time post is fixed term until 31 December 2021. Salary is on the Academic Grade 6 scale in the range £40,011- £45,437 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
