Environmental Justice Program Assistant

The Program Assistant will provide substantive support to enhance the work of the Environmental Justice (EJ) Project through engagement with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve program objectives and goals. The candidate will be expected to: conduct outreach, education, and present findings in both written and oral formats; accompany senior staff at stakeholder meetings on EJ initiatives and projects; and interact with members of local communities or outside organizations when specific needs arise; participation in EJ-relevant conferences and meetings. Academic Majors Desired: Environmental policy, public policy, environmental science, political science, environmental management, social work, public health, or related field. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Understanding of environmental justice principles; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels. Experience with public participation or outreach with EJ constituencies or communities a plus.
