We are fully committed to being an inclusive employer and ensuring equal opportunities for everyone. We welcome flexible working patterns for all our vacancies, including job share.
We’re looking for a highly effective and established Advisor who is looking for a challenging yet rewarding role to work across an innovative partnership to develop the first Surface Water Strategy for London.

You will work with a broad range of partners including Greater London Authority, Thames Water, Transport for London, London Councils, and London Fire Brigade, and our internal and external suppliers. Your recommendations will ensure that strategic decision makers are aligned and committed to drive forward the creation and implementation of the Surface Water Strategy for London.
You will lead a small programme support office to deliver a demanding and ambitious program to strengthen long-term investment and mitigation of pan-London surface water flood risk.
Knowledge of surface water flood risk is not essential, though understanding of London’s (or a similar large city) urban water management structures, organisations involved, political context and complexities is desirable.
Are you ready to accept this mission?

Working within the London Surface Water team you will be accountable to the joint Strategic Partnership. You will make recommendations to determine the best approach and implement, commission and review expert advice prior to approval.

Experience/skills required
You’ll have an impressive track record for delivering excellent results, in particular we’re looking for people who;
- Can build relationships, network and collaborate to bring about successful solutions, with excellent communication with a variety of audiences to keep others informed, managing external partner expectations and anticipating their needs, and delivering tough messages when necessary.
- Have experience of prioritising and delivering complex programmes to time, required quality and costs and/or managing delivery through a structured framework to fulfil strategic objectives whilst maintaining your own personal resilience.
- Are customer focussed and have a professional approach and leadership qualities when engaging with a range of groups. Able to motivate and inspire effective partnership working, through organising and facilitating effective meetings and creating a climate for people to identify and work through key issues quickly.
