The successful applicant will cover research and teaching in the field above.
Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz - BerlHG).
The candidate should be able to demonstrate expertise in basic and applied hydrogeological research through an excellent publication record, should have experience in qualitative and quantitative laboratory research as well as field research, and should have an excellent performance record in the acquisition of external funding. In terms of teaching experience, the candidate should have taught both theoretical hydrogeological fundamentals and practice-oriented tasks.
Furthermore, we are especially interested in candidates with experience in the numerical modeling of hydrogeological and hydrogeochemical processes. Ideally, candidates will have led scientific working groups and conducted research projects with national and international partners from university contexts and beyond (e.g. research institutions, state and federal government offices, industry, non-governmental organizations).
Along with the regular official duties of professors listed in Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:
The candidate will cover the field of hydrogeology in basic and applied research and teaching and contribute to the development of the research area in terms of content. The candidate is also expected to acquire coordinated research projects with international impact, and to develop hydrogeological concepts and strategies for the sustainable management of water resources, in particular groundwater, using integrated research approaches. The applicant will also participate in conceptualizing the Department of Earth Sciences in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. In addition, the candidate will network with other university and non-university institutions, in particular with the Geo-X Consortium. The new professor will also be expected to teach courses in ways that are sensitive to gender and diversity issues.
Applications should include a CV, copies of all certificates of academic qualification in German or English; letters of appointment (please add translations if applicable), a list of publications, a list of courses previously taught and evidence of teaching aptitude. Please include information on involvement in ongoing and future research endeavors, joint research projects, externally funded projects and, if necessary, language certificates. If applicable, please give information on partnerships with industry, inventions/patents, and spin-offs.
