Details: The Catchment Planning and Water Management team in the Office of Water are looking for an innovative and creative thinker to help improve waterway management through a range of activities that affect water quality and quantity.
This role will focus mainly on urban water management that are significantly impaired by sources of water pollution.
This role will work both independently and collaboratively across a range of topics, including:
- Perform review and assessment of applications for Development Approval with respect to Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) and the WSUD code, construction environmental management plans (CEMPs), and evaluation of MUSIC models used in the development of WSUD infrastructure development (training can be provided).
- Liaise with Government, developers and their agents, and other key external stakeholders on matters related to the urban development and environment, with a specific focus on integrating urban water policy, planning and management across Directorates,
- Lead and support project and contract management for water monitoring, modelling and research projects associated with urban and rural water management.
- Produce technical analyses, reports and communication products, and present findings in a broad range of fora to inform water policy, planning and management objectives within Government.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
- A degree or diploma of an Australian tertiary institution or a comparable overseas qualification—and/or equivalent experience, e.g. in consulting—appropriate to the duties of the position. Post-graduate qualifications in a water resource related field is an advantage.
- A current ACT or equivalent driver’s licence.
Note: This is the temporary position available immediately for a period of 12 months with the possibility of permanency. Remote working can be facilitated for the suitable applicant, noting it will be necessary to attend the office under a hybrid working arrangement as required. When in the office, the workplace is designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be by written application and referee reports only.
