CES offers solutions to complex multidisciplinary engineering tasks for all civil engineering and related sectors. CES renders services ranging from preliminary investigations to construction supervision and cost controlling, training of the clients‘ staff, advisory services in the operation and maintenance of installations, as well as the organization and strengthening of public authorities and institutions. CES works mainly in the field of development cooperation and implements infrastructure projects for national high-end clients (ministries and line authorities) funded by international donors.
CES is looking for an experienced National Team Leader and industrial wastewater management specialist (m/f/d)
PROJECT AND JOB DESCRIPTION
The project “Strengthening Institutions for Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation in Zambia (SIWaS)” is implemented through GIZ on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). SIWaS is a module of the Germany Development Cooperation focal area „Water Management and Waste Disposal”. Main objective of this project is to provide efficient, effective, and non-discriminatory access to clean and safe drinking water in adapted sanitary facilities, especially for the poor and malnourished population of Zambia. This includes further strengthening the capacity of the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation (MWDS) and the National Water Supply and Sanitation Council (NWASCO). Furthermore, the project also aims to strengthen the 7 coordination and the knowledge exchange of the 11 water and sanitation Commercial Water Supply and Sanitation Utilities (CUs) through the establishment of a Water Utility Platform to support CUs in the management and operation of Water Supply and Sanitation. In addition, the focus on Rural Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) will be strengthened in selected districts of 3 provinces (Eastern, Luapula and Copperbelt). In Lusaka, the interventions that were being implemented under the RWS II project regarding Industrial Wastewater (IWW) Management referred to as Trade Effluent (TE) as well as the Onsite sanitation interventions will be continued.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- University decree (MSc level) in civil and /or water and wastewater and/or environmental engineering or environmental management
- Knowledge of English, C1-level according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- Knowledge of Nyanja, C1-level according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- Knowledge of Bemba, C1-level according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- At least 8 years of professional experience in wastewater management, including at least 4 years related to industrial wastewater management
- At least 2 years of professional experience in mapping of industries, development of Trade Effluent (TE) regulations and standards and at least 2 years of professional experience in TE sampling, reporting on effluent discharge parameters, Analytical Quality Assurance topics and monitoring of wastewater quality
- At least 3 years of project management experience including leadership function for personnel
- At least 8 years of professional experience in Zambia, including at least 2 assignments in Eastern and/or Southern Africa other than Zambia
- At least 3 years of experience in development cooperation projects
