Professor Tarek Rouissi laboratory at INRS Eau Terre Environnement Research Centre is recruiting new PhD student to join his team and to develop novel solutions for removal of PFAS using microbial biopolymers, based on adsorption. Part of this work will be dedicated to the production of these biopolymers from residues.

Required qualifications

 We are looking for enthusiastic candidates holding an MSc degree that ensures appropriate background knowledge in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field with minimal knowledge in biotechnology. Applicants expecting to obtain the MSc degree soon are also encouraged to apply. We look for self-motivated individuals who will demonstrate passion and creativity and thrive in a collaborative environment. Successful candidates must show track records of designing and publishing research projects, rigor, and perseverance in experimental work, as well as excellent communication and writing skills.

Bilingualism (French, English) is an asset, however, to overcome language barriers and to encourage their inclusion in the research team. French courses are offered free of charge If needed to facilitate integration into the INRS and Quebec City communities.

Financial support

The Ph.D. candidates will be employed for 3 years and will run for an annual fellowship of $25,000.
