About the job
· Technical Assessment: Lead evaluation of system capacity and future needs.
· Modelling and Assessment: Oversee delivery of water resources modelling and options assessment for integrated water security strategies.
· Integration and Alignment: Collaborate with team to align technical outputs with overall work program and strategy development.
· Influence and Communication: Increase understanding of work across the business, including adaptive planning and investment readiness.
· Stakeholder Relationships: Work with Program Director to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders. Lead collaborative development of technical outputs with internal and external experts.
· Strategic Planning: Ensure timely development of strategic papers to guide discussions with various committees and stakeholders. Lead development of region-specific Plans and Processes for ongoing water security.
· Water Resilience Frameworks: Lead development of frameworks for each region, including long-term plans, investment processes, and response plans.
· Adaptive Planning and Evaluation: Lead collaborative work program to identify, evaluate, and assess options for Adaptive Plan portfolios. Oversee economic and investment evaluation, translating long-term planning outputs into medium and short-term guidance.
· Resource Coordination: Engage appropriate resources and coordinate input from subject matter experts as needed.
· Team Support and Safety: Foster a collaborative team environment, drive collaboration between strategy and planning disciplines.
In addition, your responsibilities will include:
Essential:
· Hold relevant science, engineering or related qualifications and/or industry knowledge, and understanding of relevant technical, regulatory and policy requirements.
· An understanding of the SA water sector, water resource management, policy development processes and strategic planning processes.
· Highly developed strategic and analytical skills and demonstrated capacity to successfully manage assessment and resolution of complex issues across multiple stakeholders and organisations.
· Highly developed organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and multi-task.
· Excellent stakeholder management skills, including a demonstrated ability to influence internal and external stakeholders, effect long lasting relationships, and drive mutually acceptable outcomes.
· Ability to draw high quality conclusions and to make strategic and policy recommendations on the basis of data analysis, research and engagement.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
Desirable:
· High level of negotiation skills to resolve complex issues with numerous stakeholders.
