Position – Consultant – Watershed (on intermittent basis)
About Candidate:
Seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant-Watershed, who will play a crucial role in reviewing the watershed development plans for finalization before the start of implementation and perform quality check of the soil and water conservation measures after the implementation begins.
Essential Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Strong technical knowledge of hydrology, soil science, and civil engineering.
Essential Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing and implementing watershed management plans in rural areas including in topographies similar to Lasadiya, which is dominated by undulated terrain.
• Experience in monitoring of soil and water conservation structures for the quality of civil work.
Essential Skills:
• Consultant must have prior experience in preparing watershed development plans, with some experience in the geographies having undulated terrain.
• Experience in the evaluation of the soil and water conservation plans for the suitability of location and appropriateness of the proposed structure.
• Experience in using GIS and other relevant software is a plus.
• Fluency in Hindi and English, knowledge of local language preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
• Trust will implement a soil and water conservation project for improving agriculture and livelihoods of the people in Lasadiya Block. Trust will get a detailed plan for undertaking soil and water conservation prepared by a professional organization and need the services of a consultant to ascertain the plan and to monitor the soil and water conservation structures for appropriateness of design, quality of construction and cost.
• The consultant will be required to provide technical verification of the soil and water conservation measures to be undertaken by a professional NGO specifically on-boarded for this purpose.
• Provide expert opinion on all aspects of design and construction of soil and water conservation measures and monitor the construction work for quality, based on visits to the sites at the time of implementation.
• Prepare technical report on the quality of soil and water conservation measures implemented by the NGO.
Preference will be given to the consultants having successfully handled similar assignments. Weightage will also be given to the consultants with work experience in the tribal areas of Salulmber and/or Udaipur districts.
Contract Period: The soil and water conservation plan will be ready by the end of June 2024 and the consultant services will be required on intermittent basis in and from July 2024 onwards for the implementation period of the watershed activities, which may span over 2-5 years. It is envisaged that the consultant services will be required for about a week during July and may be required for about 50-60 days a year during the implementation period. The actual number of days of requirement and duration of the implementation period are yet to be finalized.
Place of Posting: Delhi or Lasadiya – 70-80% time will be required in the field in Lasadiya with some time (20-30%) in Delhi office
