The appointee will be a member of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the interdisciplinary Center for Computation and Technology. The position is supported by the university-wide commitment to advancing coastal science and engineering, which spans multiple departments, centers, and institutes (www.lsu.edu/coast).

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Louisiana State University invites applications for 2-Year Postdoctoral Researcher the area of Environmental Engineering. The ultimate goal of the postdoctoral researcher is to make fundamental contributions to the next generation of coastal modeling software.

LSU is designated as the Flagship University in the state of Louisiana, has a total enrollment of more than 30,000 students, and is the only public university in the state to be designated a Carnegie Research I University. The LSU College of Engineering has experienced significant enrollment increases in recent years and has recently occupied the 400,000 square foot Patrick F Taylor building, one the nation’s largest buildings dedicated to engineering education. LSU is located in Baton Rouge which has a metropolitan-area population of more than 800,000. The university’s location, within one of the world’s largest petrochemical corridors and in close proximity to the Mississippi River and its dynamic delta, provides significant opportunities for environmental engineering research. Current strengths of the department include biological waste treatment processes, chemical fate and transport, energy-sustainable electrochemical systems for remediation or power generation, environmental system photochemistry, groundwater hydrology and hydraulics, and coastal engineering. Additional information about the department can be found at: http://www.cee.lsu.edu. Questions about the hiring process can be directed at the search committee chair, Dr. Chris Kees (cekees@lsu.edu).
