BACKGROUND

THIS IS A LOCAL POSITION OPEN TO KENYANS ONLY.

Background;

The Intern will be responsible for administrative and technical support ensuring successful project start-up planning, coordination and communication for the TWENDE/REPLAP projects.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Specific Responsibilities;

Under the overall supervision of the Senior Programme Officer Drylands TWENDE/REPLAP, the Intern will assist/support the following:-

Provide technical and administrative support for project activities;
Coordinate organization and follow up of field activities;
Organize and participate in events such as workshops, seminars and conferences on project start up;
Support communications and outreach activities;
Follow up requests from project partners and other stakeholders;
Prepare reports of workshops, meetings and events;
Organize programme documentations, including sorting out files, photocopying and scanning of documents, saving important project documents accordingly;
Undertake other related tasks as may be assigned from time to time
 

REQUIREMENTS

 
• Education and Experience;
Undergraduate degree in Environmental Science, Business Administration, development studies or related fields; Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
Proven ability to solve problems independently without supervision.
Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and prioritize needs
Possess energy, drive, enthusiasm, commitment and passion for high quality work.
Must be a strong team player with proven communication and diplomacy skills and ability to work effectively with multicultural and multidisciplinary teams displaying sensitivity and respect for diversity;
Adheres to IUCN ESARO core values of Transparency, Inclusiveness, Professionalism and Accountability;

A proven high standard of interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and teamwork skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a broad range of individuals and groups from a wide range of cultural backgrounds
Excellent report writing, proof-reading and editing skills with a strong command of the English language in its written and spoken form
Ability to work independently towards a clear goal
Good knowledge and skills in the use of relevant computer programs

A high level of organizational skill; excellent attention to detail
