Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Economics of Biofuel Production and Policy, Land Use, and Water Scarcity

Economic Modeling of Short and Long Run Environmental Impacts of Biofuels
Date Available
The start date for this full-time appointment January 1, 2021. This will be an annual appointment; renewable depends on performance and availability of funds.
Principal Duties
This position is part of Purdue’s initiatives in the Global Economic Analysis of Biofuel Production and Policy, Land Use, and Water Scarcity. The successful candidate will report directly to the PI: Professor Farzad Taheripour. It will involve working with scholars and researchers seeking to understand the local and global economic and land use implications of biofuel production and policy as well as studying the economic implications of climate change and water scarcity at local and global scales. The economic modeling will build upon the Computable General Equilibrium model, GTAP-BIO. In addition, developing Techno-Economic Analysis (TEA), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and spatial analysis using GIS, R, or Python will be required.
The selected applicant will be expected to publish, as well as play a leading role in research projects, and contribute to competitive grant proposals. This person will be housed in the Department of Agricultural Economics and will be involved in collaborative relationships with colleagues in the Center Global Trade Analysis Project (http://www.gtap.agecon.purdue.edu) and experts from national and international organizations.
Qualifications
The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in agricultural, resource, environmental economics, or economics. S/he should have research experience in partial or general equilibrium modeling. Prior experience in Life Cycle Analysis, handling spatially explicit data, and working with hydrological models is desirable.
Salary
Commensurate with training and experience.
