About the Water and Governance Project
Addressing the water needs of host communities in Jordan is a three year project, focusing on two Governorates in Jordan. The project is promoting better water governance, stronger institutional accountability and improved environmental sustainability while ensuring that there is improved gender equity in relation to access to water. The principal objective of the project is to improve water resource management so that all residents in the target areas are able to, sustainably, realise their water rights and meet their responsibilities. Through collaboration with a national NGO partner, the Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) and relevant municipal authorities, the project is rehabilitating and improving existing water infrastructure and increasing the technical skill set of key personnel, while investing in activities to increase community awareness on water conservation and household and communal water management.
