- Conceive, plan, and conduct research on mechanisms and processes that influence the release, transport, and survival of contaminants in runoff, surface, ground, and irrigation waters; the root zone of agricultural soils; and the food chain.
- Develop improved management practices and treatment technologies to protect water and food resources from contamination.
- Coordinate research activities with other scientists at the research center and elsewhere to complement and integrate ongoing experimental and theoretical research aimed at building sustainable agricultural systems for arid and semi-arid regions.
- Identify and quantify microbial contaminants, antibiotics and antibiotic resistance genes, and develop methods and tools for tracking their transport and fate
