This position will work with the Traditional Owners in north east Victoria who are currently not recognised under Victorian legislation, to assist in delivering the values and uses component of Victoria's Water Resource Plans.

The Aboriginal water program aims to better include Aboriginal people in the way water is managed and to reconnect communities to water for cultural, economic, customary and spiritual purposes.

The role requires a person with understanding and experience in Aboriginal stakeholder engagement. An understanding of Victoria's water resources, the legislative framework for their management and of the requirements of the Murray Darling Basin Plan is desirable.

This is an exciting opportunity for a person who can:

  • integrate cultural values in water planning and management
  • promote informed discussion to support Aboriginal values and uses through Victoria's existing water resource planning and management processes.
  • work on local projects and programs to contribute to environmental outcomes and economic benefits for the local Aboriginal communities
  • engage with all non-recognised Traditional Owner groups in north east Victoria

If successful, you will join the North East Catchment Management Authority (CMA) as an Aboriginal Water Policy Officer delivering the values and uses component of Victoria's Water Resource Plans.

This is a full time fixed term position (until 20 October 2021) and location is negotiable. The salary package of $80,537.09 - $89,376.26 will be negotiated based on experience.

The North East CMA is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages women and people of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent to be part of an organisation that promotes a diverse and productive workplace environment.

You will need to supply a covering letter, address the key selection criteria and provide a current resume as per the Recruitment Information Kit.

Applications must be received by 11.59 pm Sunday 22 November 2020.

Applications will ONLY be accepted via the North East CMA Website http://www.necma.vic.gov.au/About-Us/Employment-opportunities/Jobs.
