Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Help the Senior Manager, Recharge Pakistan and Senior Director [Water, Food and Climate] in the documentation, technical evaluation and prioritizing individual firms and consultants;

2. Maintain effective liaison with the individual consultants and consultant firms for efficient implementation of the feasibility and detailed feasibility studies;

3. Facilitate the consultants in the field for undertaking baseline environmental and social assessments;

4. Maintain effective liaison with the provincial line departments and their field staff for providing support to the Consultants in the field;

5. Provide technical expertise on the ground and surface water assessment in floodplains and hill torrents of Indus Basin during field visits with consultants. In addition, the coordinator will use modeling and spatial tools for future prediction of water security issues in the Indus Basin. This will help in exploring recharge possibilities in the Indus Basin to diversify the core areas of action beyond its current set of thematic areas, geographies and commodities; TORs – Coordinator, Recharge Pakistan, WWF-Pakistan.

6. Contribute technically towards assessing and developing Nature-Based Solutions initiatives in the Indus Basin;

7. Provide technical feedback on progress to the Senior Manager, Recharge Pakistan, Freshwater Programme and assist in all freshwater related activities such as meetings, workshops, reports, etc. on regular basis;

8. Provide support to the senior management in budget planning and other financial support;

9. Provide support in organizing training workshops/awareness seminars related to Nature-Based Solutions interventions for Floodplain and Hill Torrent Management;

10. Support the senior management in mainstreaming Nature-Based Solutions for floodplain and hill torrent management in the government’s annual development plans;

11. Develop new initiatives on innovative themes related to Recharge Pakistan and assist in securing the resources necessary for these initiatives and ensure their effective and efficient implementation;

12. Develop liaison with premier research institutions, line departments, and with other organizations/ projects with similar mandates and objectives for collaborative action;

13. Represent WWF-Pakistan at relevant forums to highlight priority issues, create a favorable image of the organization, and promote its efforts and position on various water conservation issues;

14. Provide strategic leadership for enhancing the scope of the freshwater programme of WWF Pakistan in collaboration with other programmes/practice focal points/community of practice; 15. Maintain close strategic and sustained working relationships within the WWF network; 16. Maintain liaison with the relevant community of practice for developing the strategic work for water security in the Indus Basin;

Selection Criteria Education,

Experience & Working Knowledge

Masters/Ph.D. in Water Resource Engineering and Management, Environmental Sciences / Engineering, Freshwater Ecology, Hydrology, and other Flood Water-related Disciplines;

At least 5 years of professional experience in water-related projects with credible organizations; Proficient in Hydrological Modelling Tools such as Arc-GIS, HEC-HMS, HEC RAS, etc.;

Experience of working in a multicultural/international environment;

Excellent knowledge of the global and/or regional conservation arena, key players, and policy processes;

Strong research and writing skills;

Strong commitment to conservation and development.
