Responsible for: Liaising with landowners in the River Derg catchment to undertake water management planning on farms and administer the Source to Tap pilot Land Incentive Scheme and deliver the projects community engagement and education initiatives in the Erne and Derg river catchments.

Contract: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Fixed-term contract (ending 20th August 2021)

The Rivers Trust is recruiting a Project Officer (Maternity Cover) to deliver a programme of works in the Source to Tap Project (www.sourcetotap.eu) aimed at reducing and avoiding pesticide and sediment pollution from farms in the River Derg catchment; as well as delivering community engagement and education initiatives in the Erne and Derg river catchments. The project aims to inform catchment management in designated drinking water catchments across the island of Ireland through the development of a Sustainable Catchment Area Management Plan (SCAMP).
Working alongside the project’s partners, Northern Ireland Water, Irish Water/Uisca Éireann, Agri-Food and Bioscience Institute, University of Ulster and East Border Region, the successful candidate will be required to deliver a range of activities and initiatives including:
- farm surveys and administration of the Source to Tap pilot Land Incentive Scheme
- working with the public to develop a vision for the future of their freshwater environment and identify actions required to protect freshwater and,
- the delivery of a school and community education and awareness raising programme on the importance of a clean water environment.
All of these activities will be delivered in close partnership with the cross-border Project team.
