Research Associate (Sustainable Use of Water in Food Manufacturing)

A Research Associate is required to work at the Centre for SMART (Sustainable Manufacturing and Recycling Technologies) in the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering at Loughborough University.

Previous work has identified the need for an in-depth understanding of water and effluent at the production process level. The post holder will be responsible for the further development of Sustainable Water Technology and new research themes around the concept of Digital Water Fingerprinting. The project will involve instrumentation development and characterisation, and experimental investigation. While the focus will be on food manufacturing, the applicability of the work to wider industry will be a consideration.

A good honours degree in physical sciences, food science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or related disciplines is essential, as are excellent communication skills, ability to write technical reports and willingness to travel. Post-graduate qualification to doctorate level in a relevant subject area or significant relevant experience at a senior level is also required.
