Project Manager (f/m) for Water Efficiency in the Textile Industry

Islamabad, , PK

Field of activity

Pakistan belongs to the countries that are most severely affected by climate change and is challenged by a tense water situation. The textile industry is the most important branch of its processing industry. Textile enterprises are the biggest industrial water user (almost 70% of industry usage in whole) and emitter of waste water, which is being disposed into rivers and other waters mostly untreated. Coping with climate change and securing water supply for private households, agriculture and industry is therefore one of the top priorities of the Pakistani Government. The project implemented by GIZ supports the Ministry of Textile Industry and industrial associations in their attempts to improve efficiency of water usage and waste water treatment by textile factories. It helps building capacities for the introduction and certification of management systems at factory and union level. At the same time the project works on stimulating demand from textile factories for advisory services in this field. Moreover, it strengthens the political and regulatory framework conditions and incentive structures for saving water and for economically sustainable approaches of waste water disposal.
