Australia nationals: Policy Officer, System Adaptation x 2
The Climate Change Policy branch is leading a significant program of work to implement the Climate Change Act 2017 (the Act), which provides Victoria with a legislative foundation to drive the transition to a climate-resilient community and economy with net zero emissions by 2050. A key element of the Act is the development of seven system-based Adaptation Action Plans (AAPs) to strengthen and drive adaptation planning across key sectors to meet the challenges of climate change and secure our future. The AAPs are being delivered by seven different portfolio areas of Government, and the Climate Change Policy branch provides guidance, advice, capacity building and coordination to support delivery of the seven AAPs.
The Adaptation Policy Team is a multi-disciplinary team that provides advice on climate change adaptation priorities and works with partners to build resilience to climate change in Victoria. The Adaptation Policy team has one work stream focused on system adaptation (AAPs), another focused on place-based adaptation, and a senior policy officer focused on strategy and projects that cut across both work streams.
This role sits in the system adaptation stream, and reports to the Senior Policy Officer that leads the stream. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other parts of government to build capacity and support the development of AAPs, support stakeholder engagement and prepare papers, briefings and correspondence. The role will also support policy development and manage processes, projects and straightforward contracts to support the development of AAPs. They will also work collaboratively with stakeholders across the team and branch in a fast-moving and changeable work environment on system adaptation topics and their intersections with place-based adaptation, climate science, data, communications, strategy and risk.
