We are looking for a dynamic delivery officer to join our Brent Rivers Team to lead community engagement and river restoration activities in the River Brent and Colne Catchment This will see Thames21 connect with local communities and local urban waterways. Through this programme you will help deliver our aim to provide healthy rivers at the heart of community life in the London Boroughs of the Brent Rivers.

You will deliver: a modular programme of river restoration projects, coordination of citizen science monitoring of river quality and community led activities to create a new enthusiasm for their relationships with Brent’s Rivers. You will work with the Thames21 Brent Rivers and Communities Project Officer to develop and deliver a series of River Habitat and Floodplain improvements along accessible riverside walks.

The post holder will have: knowledge and understanding and experience of environmental and river restoration projects, experience of working with and supporting volunteers and local communities; be able to work confidently with a broad range of groups, volunteers and partner organisations such as Local Authorities, private and other public sector groups.

Your responsibilities will include to:

Deliver a modular programme of river improvement and community engagement based around core locations in deprived areas spread across.

Co-ordinate a variety of citizen science monitoring activities to investigate river quality across a range of indicators and to inspire involvement & knowledge exchange;

Arrange community-led river restoration activities that will build knowledge, skills and experiences via hands-on activities and (ad-hoc) site exchange visits; Develop and deliver a series of river habitat and floodplain improvements along newly accessible riversides/walks;

Report to Thames21’s Catchment Partnerships Team Leader and work with: Thames21’s Fundraising Manager to identify and secure co-funding sources to develop new projects and add momentum to this programme and the Thames21 Training Officer, to establish a group of volunteers who are trained in Thames21’s modules to maintain and monitor local sites. Includes supporting existing volunteers

We offer Salary £26,000 pa, Full Time 35 Hours a week, 12 Month Contract Flexible working from our offices or from Home and working in London Borough of Brent.
Thames21 have an ‘Auto Enrol’ Work Place Pension Scheme with NEST, 25 days paid annual leave are available pro rata plus public holidays. In addition, the Thames21 office is closed between Christmas and New Year. Mobile phone lap top are supplied for company use
