As the Project Officer, you will be part of the Permafrost & Geoscience research team and provide support to research activities and programs that will enhance YukonU’s research capacity and impact. The ideal candidate will have relevant post-secondary education with at least two years research experience, preferably in permafrost, geoscience, climate change, and/or natural or environmental sciences, although other disciplines may be considered. Familiarity with funding agency policies, processes, and procedures as well as research ethics considerations and compliance are required. Experience contributing to the preparation of research project proposals and coordinating research projects is essential. Strength in all forms of communication, including the ability to effectively communicate to both technical and lay audiences, is a mandatory skill for this role. Other skills that will support your success are the ability to understanding budgets and project logistics and reporting; ability to read and interpret documents related to terms of agreements, financial obligations, legal liability, etc.; proficiency in digital environments; knowledge of Yukon scientific and technical communities; strong analytical skills, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of government and non-government organizations as well as experience working with First Nations.

A class 5 Drivers License is required for this role.
