What We Can Achieve Together:

Housed within The Nature Conservancy’s Resilient Watersheds Strategy, the Nature for Water Facility (‘N4W’) is a technical assistance outfit that provides hand-in-hand support to local champions seeking to develop watershed investment programs (‘WIPs’). Since its inception in early 2022, N4W has worked with 30+ prospective and existing WIPs across the globe to help them define, structure, and launch their local programs. N4W also provides funding for pilot activities and scale-up support to selected WIPs. For additional background on N4W, please see the About, Services, and Portfolio sections of the N4W website.

The Program Intelligence Developer will form a critical part of N4W’s Knowledge Learning & Impact team, focusing on building and owning our program intelligence systems. These systems will help N4W understand and communicate the implementation achievements of our local partners, as well as drive focus on where N4W should invest to maximize long-term conservation impact.

The position is full-time, fully remote, and can be based in any of the 37 countries where TNC is registered as a Non-government Organization and established employer.

We’re Looking for You:

N4W’s Knowledge, Learning, and Impact team is focused on understanding (1) what kind of impact we are helping drive on the ground, (2) what we are learning from individual projects that can be mainstreamed across our N4W team and the broader water sector, and (3) where we should be strategically investing to maximize N4W’s impact over the long term. As a critical team member, the Program Intelligence Developer’s primary responsibility will be to build out and manage program intelligence systems for N4W.

The key focus area for this Program Intelligence Developer role will be owning an ‘Impact Dashboard’ system that frames N4W’s programmatic impact on TNC leadership, donors, and the public. A minimum viable product of the Impact Dashboard will be available by Q1 2024; the Program Intelligence Developer will oversee the management and deepening of the system’s functionalities upon joining the team.

The Program Intelligence Developer will also develop bespoke ‘Decision Support Systems’ for N4W’s local partners, which are used to manage their on-the-ground implementation of priority conservation measures, as well as support the design, development, and management of internal intelligence tools that will help guide N4W program leadership decision-making and drive overall program improvements.

Finally, the Program Intelligence Developer will assist with analysing data emerging from the above systems to help accelerate the delivery of our N4W project teams and inform where N4W should be making programmatic investments to maximize long-term conservation outcomes.

Responsibilities for executing these key focus areas include:

  • [Back-end] Designing, building, managing, and updating the data capture and storage systems, templates, and procedures.
  • [Data flow] Capturing, integrating, and updating data and ensuring they are timely, high-quality, and in line with needs.
