Intent of the process

Staff one full-time indeterminate position

A pool of qualified candidates may be created and could be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, term, acting, deployment, assignment or secondment) at Environment and Climate Change Canada - Quebec region

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)



A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with an acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or in another science relevant to the position.

The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency



Recent* experience in the development, implementation and execution of an environmental program, environmental projects or environmental action plans.

Recent* experience in problem analysis and advice to internal and external stakeholders for management purposes.

Recent* experience in partnering with government, non-governmental and other organizations.

Recent* experience in coordinating the work of a project or program team in the environment.

*The term 'recent experience' refers to experience gained in the last three (3) years.

Information on language requirements



Knowledge of Quebec's water management policies, guidelines, legislation and jurisdictions.

Knowledge of key environmental issues that may affect aquatic ecosystems, particularly the St. Lawrence river.



Ability to establish and manage priorities and workload to achieve program goals.

Ability to analyze, integrate complex scientific and multidisciplinary information, and formulate and communicate strategic advice and recommendations for management purposes.

Ability to obtain the cooperation of many governmental and non-governmental stakeholders and partners to build consensus.

Ability to lead working groups in a matrix management context.

Ability to communicate in person and in writing.



Effective interpersonal relationships

Master of a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization related to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency



Experience in negotiating and managing contribution agreements, collaborative agreements and more.

Experience in database use and management.
