M.S. or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Water Resources, Economics or closely related field.
Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of Midwest agriculture, water quality and natural resource challenges.
Demonstrated experience in project management, budgeting, grant writing and project reporting.
Documented record of developing and implementing extension and outreach programming including technology transfer, adult education, presentations and communication.
Experience in team facilitation, leadership and coordination.
Experience working within a research environment. 

Job Description:

Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach Agriculture and Natural Resources program seeks applications for Program Manager to coordinate and manage a multidisciplinary water quality program. ISU is an international leader in research and extension related to agriculture and the environment and has numerous faculty and staff from multiple departments working on this interface. This position will contribute to the vision, leadership and strategy of the ISU Extension and Outreach water quality program and lead its coordination, implementation and management.

The position serves as the program manager for Water Quality Programming within Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) Extension and Outreach. The incumbent will coordinate existing extension program activities related to water quality, quantity and natural resources and connect with researchers, and develop new programs to meet current and future needs. Additional responsibilities include strategic planning and program coordination and management in the area of water and natural resources; advising and providing counsel to the ANR program director and assistant director regarding key program financial, organizational, and programmatic decisions; communication and coordination with faculty and staff on existing and future water and natural resources projects; program evaluation, reporting and communication; identification, preparation and coordination of grants and contracts to provide program funding and support; coordination, management, production and delivery of communication, publications, trainings and professional development courses, conferences, expos, and field days to provide educational opportunities as part of extension and outreach water and natural resources programming; represent ANR to internal and external audiences regarding water programming; and reporting and presenting results to facilitate technology understanding, use, and adoption.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional skills in team building, written and verbal communication, public presentations and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will have the ability to work with a variety of people including faculty, staff, students, agency staff and the public. The candidate will also have the ability to remain current on the issues facing Midwest agriculture and the science of water quality. 

This is a regular position with fixed term and opportunity for renewal. All accrued vacation must be used during term of appointment or will be forfeited.

The University is in the process of implementing a new classification and compensation structure. The impending change is expected to be completed by Fall 2020. Any P&S employee hired through this posting may be assigned a new title and associated pay grade upon the employment start date (and after the initial offer), commensurate with qualifications required for the position. The duties and responsibilities of the posted position, in addition to compensation offered, will not be affected by this process.
