The opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Senior Consultant to support a range of exciting and innovative projects within our Environmental Policy team. The team supports national Governments, the European Commission and international bodies such as the Asian Development Bank and World Bank in the development, implementation and appraisal of environmental policy. We deliver high-profile contracts in areas that include industrial pollution control, water policy, air quality, chemicals management, climate adaptation and the circular economy. In response to our recent successes we are growing our team to support delivery and further expansion going forward. Additionally, there is the potential to support other policy areas such as sustainable transport, waste, climate change and energy.

Working in international, multi-disciplinary teams you will provide policy development and implementation analysis; evaluate existing policy and technical measures; support cost-benefit analyses and carry out stakeholder consultation. Alongside project delivery, you will manage individual projects, write winning proposals, contribute toward business development and support the development of more junior colleagues.

Key competencies and experience

You will ideally be qualified to Master’s degree level in environmental policy, science, engineering, law, economics, social sciences or a closely related subject. We would expect you to also have proven experience within consultancy, government, research or industry.

You will be familiar with the process of policy development and implementation, evaluation of technical and policy measures, cost-benefit analysis, data collection, validation and analysis. You should have the ability to interact with policy makers at national and/or international level and to write reports in English to a professional standard. Strong project management experience will be an advantage, as will proven business development experience, including proposal writing, generation of new business leads, identification of new service offerings, building client relationships.

You will have knowledge of one or more of the following topics:

  • Environmental legislation and strategies in the EU, Spain and the UK relating to industrial emissions, water and air quality
  • Causes and effects of emissions to air and water environments
  • Emission management and control technologies and measures
  • Other environmental policy areas will be an advantage
