Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Environmental Assessment and Remediation Services Group Leader.

Position Summary
Stone Environmental, Inc. is seeking a hydrogeologist with a strong background in contaminant hydrogeology and
environmental investigation and remediation. The successful applicant will provide technical support for a variety of
projects such as soil and groundwater investigations at hazardous waste sites. The position involves travel for field work
throughout Vermont. Occasional travel for project outside Vermont will be required.

Work will involve a variety of field work, data collection and analysis, site assessment, technical reporting, preparation of
proposals, and remedial design. The candidate must have experience in designing and managing the construction of
groundwater investigations using innovative practices to collect and analyze hydraulic, stratigraphic, and chemical data to
develop site-specific conceptual models. The qualified candidate must be able to work independently as well as a member of
a team to develop high quality analyses and reports for various clients.

Required Skills/Experience
To be considered for this position, the following skills are required: 

Experience conducting site investigations at contaminated sites 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be able to prepare correspondence and technical

reports that are grammatically correct and high quality 

Legally able to work in the United States (proper documentation required) 

Capacity to successfully manage multiple tasks and objectives 

Ability to clearly communicate verbally, exercise good judgement, and respond professionally to comments. 

Motivation and enthusiasm to learn new skills



Hydrogeologist (cont.)

Preferred Skills/Experience 

Knowledge of federal and Vermont regulatory processes 

Time management skills to organize, plan, and prioritize multiple assignments 

Experience designing, installing, and/or operating remedial systems 

Ability to use geographic information systems (GIS) and relational database software 

Knowledge and experience with modeling software (MODFLOW and/or FEFLOW). 

Experience with innovative site investigation techniques including high resolution site characterization techniques 

Professional Geologist (PG) licensure or willingness to obtain a PG license within two years of hire

Experience Level and Education 
A B.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology, or related field is required; a M.S. in Hydrogeology or related field is preferred 

Two to five years of relevant experience in the technical skill areas described above are required
