Hydrologist (Full or Part Time)

Salary £29,000 – £42,000 (dependant on experience)

MacArthur Green is looking for an enthusiastic Senior Hydrologist, who shares our love for the environment and renewable energy projects, to join our small and friendly team.

MacArthur Green specialises in ecology, ornithology and peat services, primarily focussing on renewable energy projects and grid networks. We pride ourselves on our high technical capability and pragmatic, problem solving approach. We need an experienced and resourceful Senior Hydrologist to help our clients make confident decisions with our hydrology expertise.

We work for some of the largest renewable developers, such as Vattenfall, ScottishPower Renewables, Scottish and Southern Energy Renewables, EDF, BayWa, RES UK & Ireland and Brookfield, with projects onshore as well as offshore. We also work for statutory agencies such as The Crown Estate, the Scottish Government, Scottish Natural Heritage, Natural England and the UK Government.

Our workload covers the undertaking and management of water quality monitoring projects, environmental impact assessments and ecological clerk of works for renewable energy projects across Scotland. In recent years we have also been appointed on two water frameworks (Southern Water via MWH and Welsh Water via Jacobs). We are looking for a Senior/Principal Hydrologist to join us to build on this and take it forward, developing and growing our hydrology offering.

MacArthur Green works with our clients to deliver a positive impact for the environment. We are doing this in three ways: (1) we help projects with important environmental benefits succeed; (2) we support ecological research projects important to sustainable development, and (3) we operate a carbon negative business.

Our office is based in the west end of Glasgow, right on the banks of the River Kelvin, however one good thing to come out the pandemic is that we are now very well set up for working from home, wherever that may be, and so we are flexible about the successful candidate for this role being based outwith Glasgow.

If you are a senior hydrologist and this sounds like a team you would like to be a part of, read on!
