The Department of Health and Social Services works under the direction of the Minister and Deputy Minister, in partnership with the Health and Social Services Authorities, to support the health and wellbeing of people across the NWT through planning, development, evaluation and reporting on program and service delivery.

Job Information
The Climate Change Coordinator position is responsible for coordinating the Department of Health and Social Services’ (DHSS) climate change action plan and its activities.
The position will manage a DHSS program repository for health related climate change knowledge and information, bring together collaborative work and data sharing throughout the Department to streamline efforts, highlight areas for building capacity, and be the DHSS point of contact and lead on collaboration with partner departments in the territorial government as well as indigenous governments, local communities, and other territorial, provincial, and federal agencies.
The incumbent must have the knowledge of northern cultures and of cultural influences on health. Technical knowledge and expertise of the public health implications of climate change in the NWT.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
An undergraduate degree in an environmental science, environmental public health, or other related field, plus a minimum of one (1) year experience working in the field of climate change.
