The Water Program sits within the Business Solutions Group which comprises Programs that lead the Bureau's engagement and delivery to our customers in five priority sectors: Agriculture; Aviation, Land & Maritime Transport; Energy & Resources; National Security; and Water. The Water Program supports the Bureau’s water information role as well as many internal and external data stakeholders, customers and data users.

The Bureau is currently seeking to employ a Senior Hydrologist in the Water Program. This is an exciting opportunity to provide technical leadership for the delivery of water focused climate change services. This role will coordinate the delivery of Australia-wide estimates of future climate impacts on the hydrological cycle and indicators for agriculture, urban water supply, flood, drought and other water related variables as a key member (senior hydrologist) of the Hydrological Projections Project and contribute to meeting the customer lead demand for tailored assessments of the impacts of climate change on water.

Key management responsibilities will be to provide technical leadership of hydrological climate change impact projects and to support the Hydrological Projections Project Manager in managing and liaising between the various technical teams involved with delivering the Hydrological Projections data outputs and resulting products/services. Close collaboration will be required between the Science and Innovation Group, Community Services Group and the Data and Digital group.

The candidate will also need to demonstrate a customer impact focus, including the ability to translate customer needs into service delivery requirements.
The assessment of climate impacts on water in Australia and provision of risk assessments to support adaptation requires close collaboration
