Beacon Project – UK Programme Manager

Contract:Ā Permanent

Salary:Ā Ā£45,579 – Ā£47,858 with excellent benefits

Location:Ā The Potholder can be based in eitherĀ WaterAid London office or from an office of Anglian Water, one of the Alliance partners, or home-based.

Hybrid Working: For the London office;Ā A minimum of 40% of working time is spent face to face, either in the London office or as a result of external engagement or travel for WaterAid. WaterAid is located at Canary Wharf, London, and this will be your location and contract base.

About the Team:
The WaterAid South Asia regional team team provide direction and support to the Country Programmes located in the South Asia region (Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan) across all aspects of WaterAid’s operations including programme and project delivery, policy and advocacy, fundraising and technical support.

About the Role:
As our resourceful and collaborative UK Programme Manager you will manage the day-to-day aspects of UK-side project deliverables and support the Project Team in Nepal in the coordination, planning and delivery of wider project outputs.

In this role, you will have overall responsibility for the delivery of UK-side project activities through excellent management of resources and workstream structures.

You’ll also:

  • Lead on communication and stakeholder management
  • Guide the long term direction and sustainability of the project
  • Appropriate governance set up and managed, to facilitate change to timeframes, costs or outputs.
  • Regular reporting to project team and project sponsors.
  • Creation and maintenance of project documentation such as risk logs and RACI.
  • Mapping key stakeholders and their respective positions of influence within the project.
  • Spending time actively working with key stakeholders outside of formal meetings, to develop relationships.
  • Plan for the continued sustainability of the project through development of long-term strategic plans for the Project and ensuring all workstream activities are aligned to this plan, and the overall project objectives.

About You:

  • Strong and demonstrable Project/Programme Management experience and recognised project management qualification
  • Assertiveness and excellent organisational skills and resilience, to ensure that deadlines are met, including managing other people’s input
  • Experience of communicating effectively and engagingly with a wide variety of stakeholders including chairing, facilitating and presenting
  • Understanding of and interest in international development and, ideally, experience of international third sector project delivery
  • Strong understanding of the structure of water industry in the UK along with an understanding of water and waste water treatment processes and engineering designs / concepts
  • Experience of communicating effectively and engagingly with a wide variety of stakeholders including chairing, facilitating and presenting
