The PhD project title is “A-DInSAR technique as supporting tool for sustainable groundwater resources management in subsiding area”.
The PhD project – clickable here: http://phd-dsta.unipv.it/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/progetto_36_Meisina_sito.pdf – entails the processing of spaceborne SAR data and the spatio-temporal interpretation of the InSAR results to study subsidence phenomena related to groundwater overexploitation and its impact on the urban environment. Additionally, the candidate will build a modular finite-difference groundflow model to derive the corresponding water extraction rates.
The project will be a mixture of geophysics and groundwater geology, it is based at the leading institution, Unviersity of Pavia (Italy), and it will encompass a period abroad to be spent across the British Geological Survey (UK), Delft University (Netherlands), the Instituto Geológico y Minero de España (Spain) and the University of Padua (Italy).
