River Keeper – Parramatta River Catchment Group
$62,555 to $71,938 per annum + Super
Fixed Term (to June 2022) – part time – 28 hours per week
Council is looking for a motivated and driven individual to establish and support a network of community volunteers, ambassadors, affiliate organisations and projects to assist our mission to make the Parramatta River swimmable again.
This exciting role will deliver programs and projects supporting community volunteers and help to build and maintain positive working relationships with member agencies, including council staff, state agencies and the community to foster catchment and waterway health.
As the Riverkeeper you will primarily be responsible for:
- Reviewing, updating and implementing the Riverkeeper Communications & Engagement Plan to build and support a network of volunteers, ambassadors, affiliate organisations to help make the Parramatta River swimmable again.
- Using innovative, cost effective and high impact methods to encourage the involvement of a diverse range of groups and people within the Parramatta River catchment in the Riverkeeper program and mission to make the river swimmable again.
- Delivering the River Aware and Riverfest programs to engender support, commitment and ownership from local communities in caring for their local waterways.
- Identifying, engaging and supporting Our Living River community ambassadors to promote the Our Living River initiative and associated urban Landcare activities and achievements to the community.
To be successful in the position you will require a desire and drive for ensuring the sustainable management of the River and its catchment.
